State Street Project, located in Santa Barbara, California was a Texture-Crete Interior project that included resurfacing 100-year-old concrete.

Project Details

Westcoat Qualified Contracting Applicator (QCA), Surface It, completed the installation. Due to the age and the condition of the original concrete, there were quite a few things that needed to be addressed.

The original concrete had a mix matched old colored concrete, cut patches for plumbing repairs, new additions of concrete, old flooring types and adhesives from many years of different business renting the building. The floor had several various pours and trenches, had a poor transition from the old slab to the new slab that needed to be leveled out, and needed an overlay system for a consistent finish.

Surface It used Westcoat’s Texture Crete Interior system and sealed it with Westcoat’s SC-65 SG.

The process included: the removal of old flooring glue and contaminates, the repair of all cracks pits and holes, self-level areas were needed, application of epoxy primed with sand broadcast for strength and optimal adhesion for our cement coats, the use of TC-5 base coat cement to fill sand as a bond coat, the use of TC-4 fine texture for a smoother interior concrete feel, the use of SC-35 color stain in Shale, the use of SC-42 to lock in our desired lighter tone color, and finally SC-65 SG Polyurethane for clean ability and durability.

With the various Westcoat systems in place, Surface It was able to get the necessary repairs completed and provide a beautiful one-of-a-kind concrete look finish that their client loved.

About Texture-Crete Interior

Westcoat’s Texture-Crete® Interior is a decorative topping designed to resurface plain concrete into a decorative and durable finish. The system is a series of polymer-modified cementitous coatings that are bonded to concrete. It is applied with a mild texture, colored with water-based stains and finished with a satin sealer to give a truly unique finished floor.
