Iron Horse HOA is a condominium complex located in Winter Park, Colorado. The management company of Iron Horse reached out to Westcoat Applicator, EmpireWorks Reconstruction, in regards to gaining a quote for their services.

After gaining EmpireWorks Reconstruction’s quote and recommendations, management approved 106 decks to be done and the project began.

Project Details

Westcoat applicator, EmpireWorks Reconstruction, completed the installation. Iron Horse HOA specified that they wanted their 106 decks to be restored and resurfaced.

While the renovation and resurface was not dire due to the decks’ existing coating only having some water intrusion on the edges, the HOA was insistent on the project to give the decks a new life. After some conversations with Westcoat representative Josh Diner, the crew decided Westcoat’s MACoat Standard was the best system to proceed with.

After applying Westcoat’s MACoat Standard system, a polyurethane sealant followed by a TC-1 basecoat was applied. Finally, Westcoat’s SC-10 Acrylic Topcoat was applied in Arizona Tan.

The 106 decks were completed seamlessly and the Iron Horse HOA, the residents/homeowners, and the community were all thrilled with the finished look.

Advantages of MACoat Standard

Westcoat’s MACoat™ System is a fiberlath reinforced deck system installed with a series of two or three separate waterproof acrylic applications and sealed with Westcoat SC-10 Acrylic Topcoat.  It allows water vapor to migrate up and pass through the coating, while still shedding liquid water from off the top. This is different from most traditional urethane coatings, which are not permeable.

Uses

MACoat™ is designed for balconies, corridors, stairs and landings. It is regularly specified for homes, hotels, condominiums, apartments, office buildings and is suitable for parking structures with vehicular traffic. In many cases it can be applied over existing deck systems to provide an excellent method for the rehabilitation of problem surfaces.

Advantages:

  • Flexible
  • Durable
  • Fast Access After Installation
  • Choice of Colors and Textures
  • Tough Final Coat is UV Resistant
  • Safe, Skid Resistant Textured Finish
  • Environmentally Safe Acrylics
  • Waterproof
