The Problem

Digital Realty’s data center in Chandler, Arizona, sought to fix up its IT server storage facility and clean-rooms with a new floor coating. The existing epoxy coating had taken a toll after years of enduring heavy electronic cart traffic and pallet jack usage. This required a solution that could withstand the rigorous demands for operational efficiency.

Addressing the Issues

Despite the appeal of using a fast-setting poly for a quick fix, the client wished to avoid the strong odors associated with this option. Therefore, a search for an alternative solution that would meet both durability and environmental standards followed.

Firstly, Westcoat representatives Mark Haen and Curtis Lawson conducted a thorough job walk in the area. Later, they also provided hands-on training to the contractor. Through these actions, they gathered enough information on the issue at hand to reach a conclusion.

The Solution – Temper-Crete™

Collaborating closely with Russ Byers from local applicator ACP Painting, the three recommended Temper-Crete™ with EC-34 in Cape Cod Gray, aligning with the client’s preferences.

The challenge lay with executing the flooring project without disrupting the continuous operation of the data center’s servers. So, the work was scheduled during off-peak hours including nights, weekends, and holidays to ensure minimal disruption.

The successful application process guaranteed a superior, long-lasting surface that could withstand daily operational demands. Now, the data center boasts revitalized server hallways and loading docks equipped with a durable floor coating, promising extended reliability and performance.
