Millions of people from around the globe travel to Disneyland in Anaheim, CA, to experience the world-famous theme park. After a day at the park, why not keep the magic of Disney alive during your stay? Disney’s Pixar Place Hotel, formerly known as Paradise Pier, allows just that. And, what more fun is it to take a break by cooling down at the pool during a hot summer day? There are all sorts of activities and amenities to enjoy at Disney.

Paradise Pier is rebranding itself as Pixar Place, complete with full renovation of the hotel. Westcoat Sales Representative Bill England teamed up with D7 Consulting Inc. and The Austin Company to develop specification for resurfacing of the pool deck area. The client wanted a breathable system with easy maintenance, excellent slip coefficiency properties, and design capabilities. To address every request along with matching the hotel’s updated theme, Bill concluded that Westcoat’s MACoat system with WP Wrap was the perfect solution.

Westcoat QCA Empire Waterproofing, Inc., who has worked with Westcoat multiple times around the Los Angeles area, applied the systems. Due to other the involvement of other trades simultaneously working on the renovations in other areas of the hotel, a tight timeline posed a difficult constraint. The project was done in two phases, starting with the MACoat system installation. MACoat was ideal for providing a waterproofing system that allowed for construction traffic before the finishes were applied. In the second phase, WP Wrap was applied at the deck-to-wall interface to provide additional waterproofing. The outside planter walls were coated with 11-10 as well for extra durability.

Pixar Place Hotel is still undergoing renovations, but guests can be assured that the pool deck area is open for use. Sunbathers can relax with a lovely view of the pool enhanced by the beautiful, newly installed pool flooring, while swimmers can enjoy more time swimming and less time worrying about slipping. Pixar Place is ready to host your summer vacation!
