ATX Specialty Foods in Kyle, Texas, develops and offers top-quality specialty food products and service. Their large production facility is one of Texas’ few certified USDA organic, gluten-free, and non-GMO facilities, making them unique to the food industry.
The GC suggested the use of a water-based dual-component pigmented epoxy as an upgrade to the specified single-component sealer. Westcoat’s Water-Based Thin Film system using EC-11 WB Epoxy in Cape Cod Gray would provide a cost-effective solution that would also provide increased cleanability, quick visual inspection, and lighting enhancement. Westcoat National Sales Manager, Kevin Ross, visited the facility to meet with the PM and installation crew. Through collaboration, they refined the installations methods and sequencing of this application.
Westcoat QCA Moderncrete Concrete Design seamlessly installed over 11,700 square feet of the WB Thin Film. The size of the project required a large and experienced crew to apply the topcoats effectively in due time with minimal imperfections. December’s cold temperatures proved a challenge for the project as it affected the installation and dry time of the primer and topcoats. To combat this issue, the system materials were stored in a trailer and the space was warmed for installation.
The end result was a tough and durable yet aesthetically pleasing facility floor. ATX Specialty Foods now has a clean, safe facility to further develop quality foods for years to come.
