Epoxy Predicament in Portland

EPOXY PREDICAMENT IN PORTLAND 

Bach Custom Coatings (BCC) is no stranger to quality detailed work and this project is just their latest example in high level craftsmanship. This Portland, Oregon warehouse had 14,500 square feet of failing epoxy coating. Jeff Bach, Owner of BCC, knew exactly what was going to save the floor. 

Over the course of three consecutive weeks Jeff and his crew got to work. To properly prepare the concrete for adhesion, diamond grinding removed the old failing epoxy with a 40-grit diamond on the final pass. Bolt holes, cracks and spalls were patched with a patching compound and fast curing epoxy paste to create a smooth surface. After being allowed to cure, the entire floor was sanded with a 60-grit pad sander. 

WAREHOUSE COATING CLARIFIED 

EC-12 Epoxy Primer was applied cut with 30% acetone at 600 sf/gal and allowed to dry overnight. Next a coat of EC-12 Cape Cod Gray was applied without solvent at 300 sf/gal and allowed to dry overnight.  

SC-65 WB Semi-Gloss Pigmented Polyurethane Sealer was applied at the rate of 300 sf/gal at a uniform thickness. Two crew members were rolling with a third guy cross rolling right behind them. After allowing it to dry then cure for three days, it was business as usual with foot and even forklift traffic.

SC-65 is specified as the finish coat in moderate to severe chemical environments or in heavy traffic areas. Due to the low odor of the water-based polyurethane, it is user friendly and ideal for interior applications. Apply SC-65 as a semi-gloss sealer over plain concrete, Texture-Crete, SC-10 Acrylic Topcoat, stained concrete flooring and textured epoxy coatings. Use on decorative floors, garage floors, industrial floors, restaurant floors and automotive service areas.
