Vintage ambiance with classic cocktails, say no more! The Market & Tap Foom in Austin, Texas, is one of a kind. Originally built in 1902 as a wholesale grocery market, the current owners of the modern cocktail bar wanted to keep the worn aesthetic of the original building to capture the true feel of the original seasoned architecture.
When the owners of the Market & Tap Room were ready for new flooring, they turned to installers, Texas Concrete Flooring out of Austin to help. They knew they wanted something unique and classic, but also needed the flooring to be durable, easy to clean/maintain, and USDA/FDA compliant. Being Westcoat Qualified Contractor Applicators, Texas Concrete Flooring turned to Texas representative, Grant Scelzi, on help determining the perfect system.
After much thought, a system and design were put in place, and installation on the Thin Film Custom system began.
The owners wanted something different, and they knew a solid, standard colored floor was not going to cut it for this vintage bar. Solution? A checker board floor using our Thin Film System! Followed per spec, the floor was properly prepped and primed with our EC-12 epoxy primer in black. Grout tape was used to follow original saw marks in the concrete to mask off each individual checker board square. Then the white was applied on opposite squares until the desired color tone was achieved. For added scuff protection and durability, SC-66 polyurethane in a satin finish was used as the final top coat.
Needless to say, this place is truly one of a kind, and with their new floors, they will be rocking and rolling for another 100 years!

Advantages of our Epoxy Systems
EC-12 is used to prime concrete, metal and wood, as well as many other existing coatings. It is an all around concrete primer/sealer.
EC-34 Epoxy Topcoat is used to create industrial seamless floors in manufacturing plants, mechanical warehouses, industrial kitchens, and garages. It is best used as a filler coat. broadcast coat or topcoat.
SC-65 is specified as the finish coat in moderate to severe chemical environments or in heavy traffic areas. Water-based polyurethanes are low odor, making them user friendly and ideal for interior applications. Apply SC-65 as a sealer over plain concrete, Texture-Crete®, SC-10 Acrylic Topcoat, stained concrete flooring and textured epoxy coatings.
