Getting Spec’d
Ensuring your building is protected from leaks is an important part of planning for any multi-family architect or builder. After a job walk with the construction manager RFICM, Westcoat’s MACoat Waterproofing system was specified for 40,000 square feet at Miraval HOA in Santa Clara, California. Working with RFICM and CAM Development, Westcoat QCA, Mt Diablo Flooring Systems, installed MACoat throughout the walkways of the multi-family building.
Installation
To prep, the concrete was ground and a moisture barrier was installed with a full broadcast of silica sand. Basecoat and slurry coats we installed before a final Knockdown texture was applied and sealed with our Acrylic Topcoat in Pewter Gray. Knockdown is a subtle way to add slip-resistance to this type of coating.
It’s All in the Details
Mt. Diablo custom fabricated the appropriate flashing and drains for this job due to the configuration of the railing mounts on the walkways. The combination of proper drain and flashing details, along with the durability of the MACoat waterproofing system, will protect this investment for years to come.
