National City, the second oldest city in San Diego County, is home to the National City Police Department. With over 100 years of service, it was time for some new flooring in their locker room facilities. When this news reached us at Westcoat, we knew we wanted to help!   

San Diego Architectural Representative, Marc Di Zinno, worked with Sargent Jeff Meeks, and Detective Tom Di Zinno, to determine the scope of work that was needed for their facilities. After visiting the sites of the two large locker rooms and listening to the needs of the department, a system was specified, and work was to begin!  

The NCPD is only a short drive from our manufacturing headquarters in San Diego, CA, so when we heard they needed new flooring, we jumped at the opportunity to help out our local community. Westcoat decided that we would donate material needed for the locker room rehabilitation, and with the help of Life Deck Coating Installations, another local San Diego business, the flooring for the department would be completed free of cost.   

The Dubro Quartz epoxy system was the chosen solution for the locker room floors. Because this system is seamless, chemical resistant, nonslip, and easy to clean, it was the perfect solution for this space. As an added precaution, EC-15 moisture vapor barrier was used in lieu of a primer due to the potential moisture relevant in this particular locker room and restroom environment. Using a 100% solids epoxy, decorative quartz sand was broadcasted into the wet material, repeated, and top-coated to complete the system.
