A Durable, Decorative Coating for a High-Traffic Attraction
Located along the Texas Gulf Coast, Galveston Island Historic Pleasure Pier is a popular waterfront destination featuring amusement rides, games, dining, and entertainment. With constant pedestrian traffic and exposure to outdoor conditions, the walkways surrounding its attractions require durable, easy-to-maintain surfaces.
The area surrounding the pier’s carousel needed a refreshed appearance and a protective coating that could withstand daily use. Custom Concrete Coatings selected a custom Westcoat coating solution using EC-11 Water-Based Epoxy and SC-65 Clear Polyurethane Sealer to improve the surface’s appearance and long-term performance.
A Custom Coating Solution Built for Durability
The application began with EC-11 Water-Based Epoxy in Safety Red, providing a durable, chemical-resistant base coat with vibrant color. The surface was then finished with SC-65 Clear Polyurethane Sealer, adding protection against abrasion, UV exposure, and everyday wear.
Together, these water-based coatings deliver several benefits for high-traffic commercial and entertainment spaces:
- Durable Protection: Resists daily pedestrian traffic, abrasion, and surface wear.
- UV Resistance: Helps maintain the coating’s appearance in outdoor environments.
- Chemical Resistance: Provides protection against common spills and cleaning chemicals.
- Low Maintenance: Creates an easy-to-clean surface for ongoing facility upkeep.
- Lasting Color: A protective clear sealer enhances the vibrant Safety Red finish.
The completed project gave the carousel walkway a refreshed, uniform appearance with a protective finish designed to support the ongoing maintenance needs of this busy waterfront attraction.
