At Westcoat, we are committed to delivering high-quality solutions that meet the evolving needs of our customers. We’re excited to announce significant updates to our ALX and ALX Pro Waterproofing Systems. These enhancements focus on the Texture Coat step, offering contractors more flexibility, efficiency, and better results.
What’s New with ALX and ALX Pro Waterproofing Systems?
The ALX Waterproofing Systems have been enhanced with new options for the Texture Coat step. Previously, only TC-3 was permitted for this step, requiring a sprayed knockdown (KD) texture. Now, contractors can choose from four different cements: TC-1, TC-2, TC-3, and TC-5. This update brings a host of benefits to those using our ALX Systems.
Key Benefits of the Updated ALX and ALX Pro Waterproofing Systems
– One-Cement System: The entire process, including the Base Coat, Slurry Coat, and Texture Coat, can now be completed using TC-1. As a result, this “one-cement system” simplifies material management and reduces on-site complexity for contractors working with the ALX Waterproofing Systems.
– Versatile Finish Options: With the updated ALX Systems, contractors can achieve various finishes. TC-1 and TC-3 are ideal for coarser textures, while TC-2 and TC-5 offer a finer finish. This versatility ensures that the ALX Systems can meet the aesthetic and functional demands of any project.
– Expanded Texture Choices: The updated waterproofing systems now permit multiple texture options, including troweled, sprayed, or broomed finishes. This flexibility allows contractors to choose the most suitable method for each project, enhancing both the quality and appearance of the final surface.
– Labor Savings: One of the standout benefits of the updated ALX systems is the reduction in labor time. The need for compressors, hopper guns, and extensive masking is minimized, particularly on smaller projects. This not only saves time but also cuts down on costs.
– Improved Cleanability: The enhanced ALX provides better cleanability for smaller decks, especially those that receive less foot traffic. This is a significant advantage for residential applications, where low maintenance is often a top priority.
Certified and Approved
These updates are officially permitted in our Evaluation Report – IAPMO – ER-587. Contractors should refer to section “3.5.3 – a)” for more detailed information on the updated guidelines for the ALX and ALX Pro Waterproofing Systems. Most importantly, all relevant resources, such as system specification sheets, CSI, submittal packages, cost templates, and material estimators, have been updated to reflect these changes.
Why Contractors Should Care
The updates to the ALX Waterproofing Systems are designed with contractors in mind. The expanded options for the Texture Coat step mean more flexibility and efficiency on the job site. Whether you’re aiming for a coarse or fine finish, or need to adapt your approach for a specific project, ALX now offers the versatility to deliver superior results every time.
Labor savings are another significant advantage of these updates. With fewer materials to manage and less specialized equipment required, contractors can complete projects faster and more efficiently. The improved cleanability, particularly for smaller decks, also adds value, making the ALX Waterproofing Systems an even more attractive choice for clients.
