As part of a complete renovation, the gift shop at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry needed a cost effective neutral floor with good reflective properties to highlight the shop’s merchandise. Jeff Bach, owner of Bach Custom Coatings of Oregon City, Oregon recommended a grind and seal option for the existing concrete slab.
First, carpet tiles and adhesive were removed and the concrete was ground with 80 grit diamonds and finished with 150 metal bond diamonds. Two coats of Westcoat EC-11 Water-Based Epoxy were then applied for protection
and sheen. EC-11 is a premium, chemical resistant, environmentally friendly coating offering epoxy toughness, medium gloss and the convenience of a water-based system a perfect choice for this quick turnaround job.
The result was a durable, inexpensive, visually appealing floor that offered a subtle backdrop to the shop’s showcase of products.
