The completed product weighs approximately 2 1⁄2 lbs per square foot. This system gives plywood the look and feel of concrete with a decorative appeal.

Waterproofing for Concrete Substrates

Westcoat’s MACoat System is a fiber lath reinforced deck system installed with a series of two or three separate waterproof acrylic applications and finished according to specific wants and needs. The finished product weighs approximately one pound per square foot.

The MACoatTM System is mainly used on elevated concrete and is designed for balconies, corridors, stairs, and landings. It is regularly specified for homes, hotels, condominiums, apartments, office buildings, and affordable housing complexes. In many cases it can be applied over existing deck systems to provide an excellent method for the rehabilitation of problem surfaces, eliminating extra labor costs.

Solar Reflective Finish Options

ALX and MACoat Solar Reflective Finish System is a waterproof walking deck system that also meets the Cool Roof Requirements of California Title 24*. The systems are installed with white polymer-modified cementitious applications and sealed with Westcoat’s Solar Reflective series of SC-10 Acrylic Topcoats that utilize infrared (IR) pigments.

These systems reduce the Urban Heat Island Effect and can lower the surface temperature. Not only does installing Solar Reflective Finish help alleviate surface temperatures, but it can also contribute to LEED points and can significantly reduce interior temperature leading to lower energy costs. These factors can contribute greatly to a budget-friendly plan of action.
